Dutilh Family Coat of Arms

The Dutilh family originates from Aquitaine, the French Region located in the South West of the country, in particular from places like Bearn and Orthez. Until to date this is the region where most Dutilh’s are living. The Dutch Dutilh family descends from Clairac, the city which its ancestors left in around 1700. At present around ninety descendants live around the world, but most of them still live in The Netherlands, with a large number in both Rotterdam and Amsterdam.

According to family foundation website, numerous attempts have been made to explain the meaning of the various elements of the coat of arms. The anchor might point to Christian symbolism. The anchor was, among many early Christian symbols, common in the Roman Catacombs where the early Christians sought refuge. The two silver rectangles next to the sun are, in fact, open Bibles, as in some older versions of their coat of arms where they actually look like open books. The sun stands for the light of God and the motto stems from the early period of the reformation, especially from the Academy Jean Calvin founded in Geneva in 1559.

One of my recent projects, where coat of arms caught my undivided attention. I had to admit that I was dealing with a very rare shield shape and quite unique achievement overall. The sketch came form the client, so all the proportions were reproduced exactly as requested. Quite a rare gem in my portfolio!

Here is another one of my recent projects I enjoined quite a bit. This was a new design for a family coat of arms. The concept for the coat of arms was supplied by the client. They would need both – 2D (vector) and 3D versions created. The family ancestry was going back to King Sanchez Ramirez of Aragon and the family De Vera d’Aragona. Giuseppe Penta married Roberta De Vera D’Aragona, so Penta became La Penta. The new coat of arms among other things would include elements from Aragons and De Vera d’Aragona coats of arms.

Fine Legacy: Authentic Coats of Arms and Treasures

As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, recently I have joined forces with Pro Heraldica (USA), a sister company of the Pro Heraldica (Europe)… The idea was to combine my unique style of artwork with their huge customer base and industry experience, and being able to offer new 21st century generation of heraldry images, complimenting the traditional approach.

Just to remind, after 40 successful years serving families in Europe, PRO HERALDICA has launched a new United States company in San Diego, California. Entrusted with the largest private genealogy and heraldry library in the world, PRO HERALDICA has been researching family histories as well as tracing and creating coats of arms for decades. With over 50 employees and an auxiliary group of 300 researchers, projects are run at the highest level of timeliness and professionalism, delivering results beyond any other group of genealogy and heraldry experts worldwide.

Not long ago, a new development in this partnership has come to light. Pro Heraldica (USA) has branched out into a yet another sister company called Fine Legacy: Authentic Coats of Arms and Treasures. As they describe themselves - the preeminent coat of arms company in the world. While Pro Heraldica (USA) has a much broader focus, Fine Legacy will be exclusively about coats of arms, and I will be directly involved with this body of work.
